According to the poll of 350 registered voters in that district, Soucek leads Goss by a 48%-41% margin. Eleven percent of voters remain undecided in the race. Of the voters who say they are most likely to vote in November, Soucek’s lead grows to 52%-41%.

Watauga County resident Dan Soucek won the Republican primary in the 45th District State Senate race, defeating Wilkes County resident Jeffrey Elmore - 6,335-5,683 with a huge home county win of 2,205-434. Soucek led in Ashe County 1,025-232 while Elmore won in his home county 3,846-2,050
